Carla Cisno is an Italian sound and live media artist working at the intersection of art, design, architecture, and technology.

Concerned with the experience and occupation of space and time, she develops open, permeable, animate environmental forms that explore perception as a multi-sensorial, fictional and cultural construction of reality. Applying acoustic behavioral models to electric signals transduced into other materials, Carla Cisno investigates the complexity of the emotions that affect our notion of landscape and understanding of nature. Used as a paradigm of “thinking space”, the invention of landscape allows her to approach the design context as an active multiplicity of relations and interactions that require users’ performance in order to be revealed.

Structurally dissipative and ephemeral, Carla Cisno's most recent work intentionally con-fuses the traditional sensorial categories of touch, hearing and vision in favor of more indeterminate, “hybrid” geographies of perception. The porosity and accessibility of their shared material conditions aim at establishing an alternative, dynamic model of organization of reality while, simultaneously, offering a new “partitioned” experience of the sensible.

Born in Buenos Aires, she lives and works in New York City.
